Of ovoid shape with entwined scroll handle and moulded spout, painted in colours with a flower spray to one side and inscribed in gilt to the other 'Presented to Mr John Sixsmith, 1875', the spout, handle and cover detailed in gilt, 15cm.

Footnotes
This lot is accompanied by a certificate of service issued in 1873 by the office of the Secretary of State to the original owner, John Sixsmith, confirming his post as manager of White Cross colliery in Lancashire. According to this correspondence, Sixsmith had been born in 1834 and had taken up the post as mine manager at White Cross in 1868 at the age of 34. It is not known for what occasion the teapot in this lot was presented.
