A Japanese Satsuma bowl

Meiji Period
Of circular form, decorated to the interior with a group of ladies wearing kimono enjoying tea underneath a flowering bough, the exterior with branches of maple, a flowering shrub and a pair of birds, one wading, the other in flight, 12.5cm diam, signature to base, together with a Japanese Satsuma twin-handled jar and cover, decorated to one side with a group of ladies playing the board game go, to the other a group folding pieces of fabric, dense flowerheads to the shoulder and to the cover, 9.5cm high, signature to base (cover glued to jar, repair to finial).
