A Japanese Satsuma vase

Meiji Period
The ovoid form decorated in raised gilt and coloured enamels with four framed panels, depicting flowering pawlonia beneath a bamboo tree, a dragon rising from cresting waves, chrysanthemums growing beside bamboo fences, and a fish leaping above waves, all within lotus lappet bands to shoulder and base. 24cm high, signature for Genzan to base (hole drilled to base).
