The three-master ‘Carnarvonshire’ was built by Fisher at New Brunswick, Canada, in 1870. Owned by T. Williams & Co. of Liverpool, she was registered at 1,393 tons gross (1,336 net) and measured 194 feet in length with a 38 foot beam.
