James Tassie (Scottish, 1735-1799)

Two Gentlemen; John Stedman M.D., three-quarter profile to the right, wearing coat and waistcoat with tied stock, his hair worn long and curled; and Adam Rolland, profile to the left, wearing coat and frilled cravat, his hair worn en queue.
Glass paste in mid-relief on a grey-green glass ground and on paper respectively, signed, dated and inscribed on the truncation, JOHN STEDMAN M.D./ DIED 16TH APRILE 1791/ SETON PINX Tassie F and A.D. ROLLAND/ 1794/ Tassie F respectively, turned pearwood frames.
