An early Victorian carved slate and stone sun dial

the dial of octagonal form with pierced brass gnomen, decorated with scrolls and inscribed and dated Construct on the Liat of 52 45, For the use of Mr Thos. Studdert, Dang*aunelly AD 1843, mounted and raised on a contemporary carved stone circular mount and tapering square pedestal, 104.5cm high

Footnotes

The latitude reading for the dial presumably directly refers to the position of Thomas Studdert's house where the sun dial would have been placed in a prominent place in the garden.
