"Vahari" a rare motor punt

Length: 24ft.4in.( 7.42m.)Beam: 3ft.4in. (1.02m.) Draft: 14in. (35cm.)

Built by T Tims, Cherwell boathouse, Oxford, in the 1930's, with mahogany sides, new Idigbo hardwood bottom (2002), with rubbing strakes, teak treads and vertical knees, mahogany gratings and huff. Varnished to the waterline with a gold/green caveta and foliate decoration, and painted green below.

Engine: Stuart Turner R3MC 1.5hp single cylinder petrol, No.45R103, built March 1959, with flexible coupling and centrifugal clutch. Stuart 1 gallon fuel tank and seacock. Inventory includes spare magneto and shaft bearing.

General arrangement: Saloon of 2.44m(8ft.) with sloping slatted seat backs, vertical wheel steering to starboard with brass rack and pinion control to rudder, and Stuart throttle lever. Aft cockpit 1.6m(5ft.3in) with varnished engine box, lagged exhaust pipe and varnished fuel tank support. Pierced sloping bulkhead to short aft deck with two lifting sections for access to steering gear, central section with ensign staff. Inventory includes cushions in red velvet with maroon canvas dust covers, camping cover with irons, two overall covers. Fenders, mooring warps and stakes, mallet, paddles, boat hook, battery navigation lamps, fire extinguisher, plus a full collection of camping equipment. Also includes a custom built, four wheel, braked road trailer with recovery winch and jockey wheel.
