An unusual wood and metal display model of the Cornish pumping engine 'Old Bess' of circa 1780.

With cylinder approx 1 1/4in bore x 3in stroke, gab valve gear, wooden beam with appropriate link chains, condensate tank and feed pump and beam operated bucket pump, trough and delivery tube to overshot water wheel, finished in black, the wooden frame with brass plate engraved 'Old Bess, Cornish Pumping Engine 1780, made by C.R Burgess, Chichester 1962', 22 1/2x23 1/2in (57.2x59.7cm).
