over a canal bed setting with conifers and pebbles against a graduated dark grey to green backboard and ceiling. The off set plaque to right reads: Pike 17lbs 4ozs. Caught at Seend Devizes. 20th Nov. 1955 by B.N. Hill. Case 117cm wide x 39cm high x 20cm deep. Offered by the captor, the Pike is accompanied by photographs of the Pike showing The Pike Cup awarded by the Devizes Angling Association for the Sept. 1955-March 1956 Season and is recorded in the DAA minutes. There is also a receipt stamped John Cooper & Sons No.2767 for £17.0.0 and a British Railways receipt for transporting the crate with fish specimen from J. Cooper & Sons. Finally there is a hand written account of the occasion from the captor including an explanation of the missing scales from the pike which was caused when the captor, carrying the fish on his back, fell off his bicycle on his way home!
