An important J. K. Farlow, Makers, 5 Crooked Lane, London Bridge* 1851 Great Exhibition silver plated brass gut twisting engine

with three hooks, screw clamp fitting, shaped winding arm with turned ivory knob together with a silver plated hinged clearing ring and ivory bobbin with linen line.

*J.K. Farlow were in business for about twelve years at the Crooked Lane address and this gut twister was made for the Great Exhibition of 1851. Reports of the event state that the standards of most of the exhibitors were equally high, the only difference being the external embellishments and metals used.
