Footnotes
The Vleeshuis is the oldest public building in Antwerp. This late Gothic hall (1501 – 1504) was originally the only place in the city where meat could be sold. The Butchers’ Guild maintained a chapel, a banqueting hall, a meeting room and kitchen in the building.
Today the museum houses archaeogical finds, applied arts and objects, which document local history.
