With tapering double-edged blade of flattened diamond section, fullered rectangular ricasso struck with a cross mark on each side, one side with faint traces of an incised inscription, iron hilt comprising short straight cross with large crown-shaped terminals, fig-shaped pommel (tang button later) and swelling baluster-shaped grip, all pierced with designs of slots and circles (pitted throughout)

This is a product of the revived fashion for wearing simple cross-hilted swords which started in England in the early 17th century, and lasted, apparently, until the 1620s.
