With earlier tapering double-edged blade of flattened hollow-diamond section, iron guard comprising upturned shells on each side, the larger outer one linked to the pommel by a tapering side-bar screwed to the pommel, and each joined at the front by scroll-bars to a disc-shaped plate drawn-out to form a knuckle-guard screwed to the pommel, the latter bottle-shaped with flattened button finial, short scrolled rear quillon, and later swelling wooden grip (split), roughly chiselled overall in bas relief with symmetrical foliage and human heads (some wear and pitting)
