An English Silver-Mounted Hanger
London Silver Hallmarks For 1696-7, Maker's Mark Of Richard Fuller

With curved fullered blade double-edged towards the point and etched on one side towards the forte with a portrait bust of Charles II under his monogram, a flower beneath, and on the other with the crowned Stuart royal arms within the motto of the Order of the Garter, the forte on each side engraved with a panel of foliated scrollwork against a stippled ground, hilt comprising short rear quillon with rounded terminal cast and chased with a male profile bust against a stippled ground on each side, knuckle-guard with central bust of a Roman emperor and foliage on each side, pommel-cap decorated en suite with both the quillon and knuckle-guard on top, and natural buckhorn grip with deep silver basal ferrule finely engraved with sprays of strawberry foliage framing an oval cartouche containing an elaborate owner's monogram
