An English Silver-Mounted Hanger
London Silver Hallmarks For 1709-10, Indistinct Maker's Mark Possibly Of Elias Hosier

With curved fullered blade (some pitting overall) double-edged towards the point, hilt comprising short rear quillon with rounded terminal cast and chased with a female mask against a stippled ground on each side, knuckle-guard with central bust amid foliage en suite, cushion-shaped pommel-cap decorated en suite with both the quillon and knuckle-guard on top, and natural buckhorn grip with moulded silver basal ferrule, in later brass-mounted black leather scabbard (damaged and repaired)
