A Rare 'Celtic' Hilted Heavy Cavalry Officer's Sword
Circa 1820

With slightly curved pipe-back blade double-edged at the unusual recurved spear-point, bowl-guard pierced and engraved with symmetrical scrollwork continued as an arrow up the knuckle-guard, the latter pierced for a sword-knot, faceted pommel and back-piece in one, and fishskin-covered grip bound with twisted silver wire, in original steel scabbard (dented on one side) with two rings for suspension (some rust patination)
