A 22-Bore Brass-Mounted Flintlock Pistol
By John Tow, London, Late 18th Century

With barrel signed within a drop-shaped panel along the breech flat, plain tang, signed rounded lock (signature refreshed), figured full stock (fore-end with minor split and repair) with apron around the tang, mounts comprising border engraved scroll side-plate and vacant escutcheon each decorated with foliage, spurred pommel, trigger-guard, and later brass-tipped ramrod, London proof marks and maker's mark

John Tow was successor to Griffin & Tow and is recorded at 10 New Bond Street between 1783-93. He was appointed Armourer to His Majesty's Stables in 1784
