A Grenadier Officer's Sword Of 1822 Pattern Type
Circa 1830-40

With curved single-edged blade (some pitting overall) fullered over most of its length on each side and etched and gilt with flowering foliage against a blued ground over half its length on both sides at the forte, brass hilt of fluted bars (one broken) incorporating a flaming grenade, folding inner-guard, pommel and partly fluted back-piece in one, and wire-bound ivory grip (split) partly chequered and diagonally fluted, in original black leather scabbard (some damage overall) with shaped brass locket, chape and suspension mount each engraved with foliage on the outside, and with two rings for suspension
