A Fine Daghestani 28-Bore Miquelet-Lock Pistol
Mid-19th Century

The barrel with sighting flat over most of its length, chiselled with fleur-de-lys shaped panels at the muzzle and breech and profusely decorated overall with scrolling arabesques, the latter with gold-lined barrelsmith's mark, long tang extending down the back of the butt, incorporating the back-sight and decorated en suite with the barrel overall, characteristic lock (minor rust patination) and trigger-plate also decorated en suite, wooden full stock entirely covered in silver-gilt panels chased with designs of flowerheads and foliage against nielloed grounds, the butt and rounded pommel (slightly loose) with silver beadwork borders, barrel-bands en suite with the stock, gold-damascened button trigger, and original ramrod (incomplete) with gold-damascened partly octagonal iron tip
