A Daghestani 25-Bore Miquelet-Lock Pistol
Dated 1293 A.H. Corresponding To 1876-7 A.D.

The etched twist russet barrel with sighting flat over most of its length chiselled with a gold-damascened fleur-de-lys at each end and decorated over its entire length with a gold-encrusted Arabic inscription, the breech with shaped panel damascened with gold arabesques centred on a circular gilt barrelsmith's mark, long silver-covered tang extending down the back of the butt, incorporating the back-sight and nielloed with shaped foliate panels including an Arabic inscription at the top 'the work of Ramadan', characteristic lock with circular gilt maker's mark and decorated overall with encrusted engraved silver arabesques, the bottom of the mainspring with encrusted silver dated Arabic inscription 'The work of Muhammad', wooden full stock entirely covered in silver panels chased overall with symmetrical designs of foliage and arabesques against stippled grounds, the butt and rounded pommel with slender beadwork borders, the latter with a ring for suspension, barrel bands en suite with the stock, silver encrusted faceted button trigger, and false ramrod-entry (some wear overall)
