A Caucasian Kindjal
Late 19th Century

With tapering double-edged blade cut with four etched fullers converging towards the point over its entire length on one side, and with similar fullers over most of its length on the other, slender waisted hilt with dark horn grip-scales divided by a chased silvered border, and with nielloed silver mounts chased with foliage against a stippled ground on the outside, in original wooden scabbard covered in black shagreen (by-knife missing) with nielloed silver locket and deep chape en suite with the hilt, the former with suspension mount, the latter with spherical terminal
