A 13-Bore Flintlock Sporting Gun
By Elston, Doncaster, Circa 1760

With shortened sighted barrel engraved 'Doncaster' along the top flat at the breech, grooved engraved tang, signed flat bevelled lock, figured full stock (minor repair in front of the lock, some splits) carved with a shell behind the barrel tang and with pineapple chequered grip, take-down fore-end (reduced), iron mounts comprising butt-plate and trigger-guard, the latter with acorn finial and engraved with a flowerhead on the bow, and associated wooden ramrod with later brass tip (worn overall, iron parts lightly pitted), London proof marks and maker's mark BE
