The First Including Four Stamped Sykes Patent, The Second Including Three By Dixon & Sons And One By G. & J.W. Hawksley, Mostly 19th Century
The first comprising five double shot-belts (some wear and damage, two belts incomplete), four each with sprung powder-measure (three missing), and one with sprung cut-offs, and six single shot-belts (worn, two belts incomplete), each with sprung powder-measure; the second each with brass or steel nozzle with sprung cut-off, two with sprung measure, comprising ten each with bag-shaped leather body variously tooled with sporting scenes involving gundogs, gamebirds and horsemen, and thirteen others each with plain body, mostly with a suspension ring at the bottom (three missing), one with threaded brass cap, the body and leather pouch (straps incomplete) with faint traces of original handwritten owner's name and address; the third both opening at each end and fitted for thirty-two and twenty rounds respectively, one indistinctly stamped twice with Continental brevette details (some wear and damage); and the last (worn and damaged) including one retaining its threaded brass-mounted rods (38)
