Reconverted from percussion, with rebrowned two-stage barrel turned at the girdle and with silver spider fore-sight, octagonal breech engraved 'London' and with gold-lined touch-hole, grooved engraved tang, signed flat bevelled lock engraved with a starburst on the tail, figured half-stock (fore-end partly replaced) with chequered grip, border engraved mounts comprising oval side-nail plate, butt-plate with two gamebirds on the tang, trigger-guard with acorn finial and a flowerhead suspended from a ribbon on the bow, silver fore-end cap and ramrod-pipe, and later horn-tipped ramrod: in contemporary lined and fitted oak case with accessories including later powder and shot-flasks, mainspring clamp and turnscrew, the interior of the lid with retailer's illustrated trade label of circa 1785-98, the exterior with flush-fitting brass carrying handle, London proof marks
