An 18-Bore D.B. Flintlock Sporting Gun
Signed Oates, Worcester, Circa 1800

With rebrowned twist sighted barrel engraved 'Worcester' along the rib at the breech, and each stamped 'Fine Twisted' beneath, breeches each with two gold lines and gold-lined touch-holes, tang engraved with a martial trophy and foliage, and with a starburst within the sighting groove, signed border engraved flat bevelled locks each decorated with gamebirds at the stepped tail, engraved cocks, rainproof pans and rollers, figured half-stock with chequered grip and fore-end, border engraved iron mounts comprising butt-plate decorated with gamebirds and foliage on the tang, large scroll trigger-guard signed within an oval in a landscape with a gundog and gamebirds, trigger-plate with pineapple finial, silver escutcheon engraved with owner's name 'W.F. Lucy', and iron-tipped ramrod, probably original, London proof marks
