A Fine Brass-Barrelled Flintlock Blunderbuss
By Dl. Moore, London, Circa 1770

With three-stage barrel turned and belled at the muzzle, octagonal breech signed along the top flat, grooved engraved tang, signed border engraved rounded lock (defective, surface rust), figured full stock carved with a shell behind the barrel tang, border engraved brass mounts with foliate decoration and comprising shaped bevelled side-plate, butt-plate and trigger-guard, the latter with foliate finial, ovoidal brass escutcheon engraved with owner's name 'H. Revell' and with a cast scallopshell above, original sling loops, turned brass baluster ramrod-pipes, and brass-tipped ramrod, London proof marks and maker's mark

Daniel 2 Moore was free of the Gunmakers' Company in 1756 and worked in Fenchurch Street between 1762-83. He was Contractor to Ordnance between 1778-80 and to the East India Company from 1772 until the year of his death in 1802
