A Cased Pair Of French 54-Bore Percussion Target Pistols
Signed Grandineau A Paris, Circa 1850

With reblued octagonal sighted barrels each fluted over most of their length, foliate scroll engraved breeches and tangs each numbered '1' and '2' respectively, the latter each incorporating a back-sight, border engraved detented locks each signed on a curved scroll and decorated with foliate scrollwork, hammers and mounts en suite, the latter comprising shaped pommels of diamond section each drawn out to a baluster terminal, and spur trigger-guards, figured half-stocks carved with symmetrical foliage on the fore-ends, and fluted butts (in refurbished condition): in original fitted rosewood case lined in plum velvet (faded) with full accessories, the interior of the lid stamped with gilt maker's details, the exterior (minor repairs, keyhole escutcheon replaced) with vacant shield-shaped brass escutcheon within a border of light wood stringing
