An Unusual Russian 54-Bore Percussion Gun For A Youth
Signed Izhevskii Factory Of Petrov, No. 3361, Dated 1861

With short sighted two-stage barrel encrusted with engraved silver leaves in front of and behind the brass fore-sight and retained by a steel barrel-band decorated en suite, octagonal breech serial numbered and signed in inlaid silver cyrillic (some losses) along the top flat, the flat on either side decorated with encrusted silver arabesques, the right flat stamped 'No. 98.4.61' beyond an indistinct mark, and all within roped silver line borders, breech, tang, back-action lock and rounded hammer decorated en suite, figured half-stock (probably an old replacement, some splits and repairs) with chequered grip, steel mounts en suite with the lock and comprising butt-plate and trigger-guard, and later steel ramrod
