A .550 Springfield Maynard Conversion Breech-Loading Rifle Musket
Dated 1858

With sighted barrel retained by three spring-held barrel bands, folding leaf back-sight, breech stamped 'Roberts Pat. June 11 1867' on one side and operated by a lever secured in the closed position by a sprung catch, dated flat bevelled lock stamped 'U.S. Springfield' and with an American eagle on the hinged tape cover, three-quarter stock (minor splits in front of the lock), steel mounts, sling loops, original steel ramrod, and socket bayonet (steel parts rust patinated overall) (2)
