A Flintlock Tinderlighter
By Wicks, Late 18th Century

With border engraved brass action decorated with foliage involving a vacant oval on one side and signed on the other, border engraved rectangular tinder-box engraved with a flowerhead on each side and with an elaborate martial trophy underneath, one side with hinged side-plate (catch missing), later turned brass sconce and bipod, flat-sided butt, and vacant silver escutcheon (trigger-guard missing)
18.5 cm.
