The brass-mounted body of curved flattened form engraved on one side with a sportsman in contemporary costume leading his hound towards a stag in a landscape, the inscription 'Denn Stoltzen Hirsch in grünen Wald, Find mir mein Leidhund früh gar Bald.' above, and on the other with the stag leading the hound towards a pair of embracing lovers seated in a landscape, the inscription 'Denn Jäger Bey der Courtesi Such ich mit meinen Leidhund früh.' above, turned nozzle with wooden stopper incorporating a pricker, and two brass rings for suspension
