A Scottish Basket-Hilted Broadsword
Late 18th Century

With earlier tapering double-edged blade cut with a double fuller over each side of the forte on each side, the fuller with traces of etched Latin inscriptions and struck with three crowned pincer marks of the Wirsberger family beyond, one of the marks larger and involving the initials 'WW', hilt of slender bars framing fretted panels pierced with hearts and circles, fore-guards, globular pommel with button, and fishskin-covered grip bound with twisted copper wire
