Of russet steel, comprising crescentic axe-blade pierced with two etched Turks in contemporary costume, each grasping a palm and pointing towards an etched naval engagement scene with German inscription on one side, and a town under siege with a further inscription on the other (worn, inscriptions illegible), fluke of tapering diamond section moulded at the base, tapering octagonal socket moulded at each end and decorated overall with a design of chevrons, and openwork finial formed as a mace-head, each of the flanges of f-shape and retained by a petalled washer (rust patination overall)
