Footnotes
The general form of the hilt found on this sword is one that was used widely in Europe during most of the 15th century. The form of blade here suggests a date within the first half of the century, while the type of pommel is one that was particularly popular in England, as, for example, on a sword in Westminster Abbey ascribed with probability, but not certainty, to Henry V.
