A Very Fine Gothic Gilt-Copper Rowel Spur
Early 15th Century

For the left foot, with slender tapering downcurved heel-band of plano-convex section with low down-bent crest and figure-eight shaped terminals retaining their original hooks and buckle for the leathers, and straight tapering neck of circular section with star-shaped rowel of eight points, decorated overall with ornament formed of punched dots, on the neck and rear of the heel-band set closely, and elsewhere arranged in bands, and retaining much of its original gilding
17.5 cm.
