Rare Orange Coral Necklace

Corallium elatius
Sea of Japan

This magnificent necklace is formed of branches of an orange coral taken from sanctioned areas off the coast of Japan, locally called momo coral. These branches are exceptional for their size—the central branches measure up to a full 4 ½ inches—and evenness of color as well as polish. Decorated at intervals with Thai silver ornaments depicting sea life, this necklace is sure to make a regal statement. Length 26in

Footnotes

Potential bidders outside of the United States who intend to import this lot are advised that permits may be required for coral. If you are interested in this lot, please contact the Natural History Department before bidding.
