Mexico
The most sought-after color in Mexican fire opals is a deep cherry-red. These stones all fall into that category and are particularly well matched for color and their high degree of transparency and luster. It is unusual to see fire opals faceted into a circular cut. The larger gem, weighing approximately 3.50 carats and measuring 10.5 x 7.5mm, would be suitable to be mounted as a ring; the pair of circular-cut fire opals, together weighing 2.60 carats and measuring 7.5 x 5.5mm would make a fine pair of earrings.
