The name phenacite, or the alternate spelling, phenakite, is derived from a Greek word meaning deceiver, referring to its similarity in appearance to quartz. Phenacite is a rare beryllium mineral, which is found in association with other precious gemstones. It is found in pegmatitic pockets and is associated with gemstones such as topaz, beryl, emerald, chrysoberyl, and smoky quartz. At a hardness of 7.5-8, this lovely colorless stone of rhombohedral outline would make a wearable gem with its excellent luster. Weighing approximately 33.58 carats and measuring 22.0 x 17.5 x 11.5mm
