Both are carved from the pyritized ammonite Speentoniceras of the lower Cretaceous of this region. Pyritization, a mineral replacement by pyrite, imparts both these objects with an attractive metallic luster. The large egg measures 5 ½ in and the sphere measures 2 ½ in. (2)
