Carved Agate Bowl—A Cameo of a Tambourine Dancer

By Manfred Wild
Idar-Oberstein, Germany

The virtuoso work of a master is visible in this enchanting oval presentation bowl. Carved of a single piece of high quality brown and white banded agate, Wild has made full use of the banded nature of the original mineral. The sides and outside of the bowl bear a fine polish while the center is carved as a “cameo” with a matte finish to depict a dancing maiden with tambourine wearing a diaphanous gown. Length 4in
