Including an charoite box of asymmetrical outline with an onyx border and hinged lid from Eastern Siberia, Russia; a rectangular box carved of rare irinite from Siberia, length 3 ½ in; and an “egg-shaped” box carved of seraphinite with a removable lid. Seraphinite is the “gemmy” variety of the mineral clinochlore. It comes from only one mine in the world near Lake Baikal in Eastern Siberia. It is a deep green gemstone with silvery chatoyant fibers, much like charoite, and has a pearly or silky luster. Often referred to as “angel stone”, it is view by mystics as a means of communicating with angels, length 4 in. (3)
