Designed by Lee Downey
Bali, Indonesia
Carved from Dominican green amber, the frog emerges from a section of Siberian mammoth ivory as if from a half-decayed tree stump while another, smaller frog is poised to leap at the base. The eyes of the larger frog are formed of sapphire cabochons rimmed with gold. Various types of amber representing “oozing” sap have been utilized: Dominican blue, purple-indigo blue, red, and two cabochons with termite and insect inclusions; there are also several Baltic yellow amber “drips”. A black drusy quartz decorates the square jet base, which rests on hardwood, signed and hallmarked. Height 9in
