Dinosaur Femur

Hadrosaur
Campanian, Late Cretaceous.
Two Medicine Formation, Montana

Belonging to a robust hadrosaur, possibly Edmontosaurus, a dinosaur thigh bone shows what may be bite marks on the distal (lower) end. The specimen displays a very well preserved 4th trochanter and very little restoration. The individual would have been about 25 feet long. Hadrosaurs were herding animals with a well defined social structure. Edmontosaurus was a flat headed hadrosaur with a large gular (throat) pouch, and a thick neck. It is possible that hadrosaurs displayed some coloration or color pattern to distinguish one another and attract mates. Measures 45 x 11 ½ x 5in
