Multiple Trilobite Plate

Dikelocephalina
Asaphus
Ordovician
Morocco
Trilobites were communal creatures, often coming together in mass assemblages for what scientists speculate were mating rituals. Perhaps foreshadowing the habits of modern-day salmon, which die shortly after the completion of their reproductive process, trilobites have on rare occasion been found together in prodigious numbers. The present specimen is a remarkable example of such a phenomenon, exhibiting dozens of complete, 10-inch Dikelocephalina trilobites, with six complete Asaphid trilobites, all captured in 450 year-old Ordovician shale. More than a "museum quality" specimen, the piece’s importance would aid in establishing the reputation of any museum or private collector. Measuring approximately 60 x 58 x 5in
