A meticulously prepared articulated echinoid, a species that was described by Agassiz in 1847, comes from an Upper Jurassic seafloor outcrop in west-central France. The specimen was freed from the entombing matrix, a labor-intensive procedure, then the fine details were carefully revealed using gentle air abrasion and staggered acid baths, executed by a master preparator to reveal the highly three-dimensional form.
