Orange-Green Amber with Bee Swarm

Proplebia dominicana
Oligocene
Dominican Republic

A stingless bee, Proplebia dominicana harvested the resin of the trees in the amber forest of the Dominican Republic over 30 million years ago. A rare, beautifully colored museum-quality piece exhibits over 20 of the harvesting bees, and a few flies, in a stunning, fully polished display. The amber appears as a crystal clear orange with a green tint, a very rare combination. Measures 2 x 1 ¾ x 1 1/4in. Weighs 28 grams
