Navidad Mine, Abasolo, Durango, Mexico
Creedite is a very rare mineral, seldom found in large finds or large specimens. It was first described in 1916 and named after its type locality in the Creed Quadrangle in Mineral County, Colorado and is known for its acicular (needle-like) crystals which form in radiating groups. A find from Mexico just a few years ago has set a new standard for the species. Now all collectors, not those with an affinity for rarities, can appreciate the beauty of a fiery orange creedite. This is the largest intact specimen from the find of which we are aware—a museum-sized piece of unprecedented proportions—bigger than the sum of all creedite in most museum collections in existence until this find. Measuring 23 x 12 x 3 ½in
