Acanthite

Imiter Mine, Quarzazate Province
Central, Morocco

A discovery in 2004 in Imiter, a locality well-known for finds of silver and proustite, brought to light some specimens of acanthite. These were especially remarkable for the size and shape of their crystals—a pseudo-octahedral, and not pseudo-cubic, as is typical. The present highly aesthetic example is from that locality and exhibits the most desirable qualities in acanthite with sharp, well-defined crystals. Measuring 2 x 1 ¼ x ¾in
