February 1963, RCA Records, the record award with plaque that says "Presented to President John F. Kennedy by RCA Custom records-Cadence Records in appreciation of your accomplishments which contributed largely to making “The First Family” the biggest selling album in history February 1963," matted with a green background which is typical of record awards from this time period. This record was presented to John F. Kennedy by Earle Doud and Vaughn Meader in 1963 to celebrate the gold record status of the “The First Family” album, a tongue in cheek parody of the Kennedy family. This album was extremely popular in 1962. It has been said that President Kennedy himself used to listen to this classic comedy to have a few chuckles. After the award was presented to the President, it was put in a presidential storage because the First Lady, who authorized what hung in the White House, did not wish to create a trophy room in her home. After Kennedy’s death, the award was returned to its presenter and obtained by the consignor in 1980.
