Typed Document Signed (“Lou Costello”), carbon copy, 1 p, 4to, Universal City, September 26, 1952, being an agreement between Universal Pictures and Costello for the loan of $5,000, two holes punched at upper margin, lower left corner bumped, light toning overall. Abbot and Costello’s relationship with Universal Studios was famously tortured: the duo sued the studio when they suspected (rightly) that they weren’t receiving their fair share of profits on early films. This document dates from the years when the team was filming the popular “Abbot and Costello Meet…” series. The loan of $5,000 to Costello is to be recouped from the production of "Abbot and Costello Meet Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde."
